KL GoldMiners Coach & GM Ryan Wood has been busy, he completed a trade with the Lindsay Muskies of the OJHL, acquiring 6’2″ 190 winger Sam Ellwood. The 18 yr old forward brings size, speed and skill to the lineup. Ellwood saw limited duty in Lindsay last year, but Coach Wood says, “Sam will be given every opportunity here to showcase his skills.” Sam is relishing the opportunity an expanded role will bring. In exchange for Ellwood, the GoldMiners have sent dman Brandon Carr-Ansah to Lindsay, Brandon had a requested a trade closer to home.
Coach Wood also announced this week that 20 year old Kirkland Lake native, Marshal Nikitin will be the 2017-18 team captain. Captain Marsh, had 32 points, including 11 goals in 42 games last season.
Coach Wood continues to shape the roster, adding 18 year old Lukas Lyszyk to the squad. The 5’8″ 170 speedster, comes to us from the Minnesota Revolution. The Colorado born, Minnesota resident, will “add depth to our forward group, we expect Lukas to be a valuable member of the group, as he adjusts to the junior game.”
